First of all allow me to thank and commend Andrew Migliore not only for publishing this letter, but for continuing his efforts in the field of raising the general public's awareness of the Un-Dead threat. Now in its fourth year, the Undead Film Festival, AKA: Zompire has been bringing the Pacific Northwest the very cutting edge of informational debriefings. From two minute shorts to the feature length, what Migliore presents to you, in one weekend is of dire value the whole calendar year. As funny ha-ha as some of the Zompire fare may be, it is at its core “infotainment”. Information dressed up in wooden stakes and cricket bats that can be used to keep you breathing and thinking one more day ahead of the shambling, flesh eating pack. But information is like luck; it's a neutral idea, it can both be good or bad.
Ana Argento, an accomplished cartoon artist yet frustrated with her relationships, meets two other strange characters with peculiar lives. Tom is a chronic cataleptic who ironically is a life insurance salesman, and Daniel Torres is a sociopath and rapist coroner who has a peculiar method. He induces catalepsy by pouring a voodoo potion on girls drinks and they are sent to the morgue. When they are sent there, he is waiting to rape and strangle them unsuspiciously. His plans tend to go wrong when Tom wakes up from his catalepsy when Daniel is in the Morgue.
A satirical treatise on friendship, regret, and the nature of evil under the guise of a rootin'-tootin' zompire buddy movie.
Romero's ultra gory sequel to Dawn of the Dead, where the Dead have taken over the entire planet, leaving small groups of people out of their reach. Hiding in an underground bunker in Florida, one group of both scientific and military personnel tries to get in contact with other survivors of the zombie infestation, but find themselves quite alone in this new world. Desperately searching for a cure by indulging in strange experiments, the scientists loose the faith of the military, resulting in a race against death while the zombies take over the facility.
Fantastic 60's horror sci fi flick by the great Italian director Mario Bava. The story follows the horrific experiences of the crew members of two giant spaceships, the Argos and Galliot that have crash landed on the forbidding, unexplored planet of Aura. The disembodied inhabitants of the world possess the bodies of the crew who died during the crash, and use the animated corpses to stalk and kill the remaining survivors.
This Italian film, titled Dellamorte, Dellamore, is properly translated as ‘of death, of love’. Everett stars as Francesco Dellamorte, a cemetery caretaker who must destroy the dead as they rise from their graves with his trusty assistant Gnaghi. Utilizing dark humor and Italian surrealism, this film touches upon the philosophical meanings of love, death, and life. The former apprentice to master filmmaker Dario Argento, develops his own style as well as a cult following with this film.
Confront a part of yourself you always hoped would not exist!
A hilarious and macabre gothic fairytale about an undead man and his pursuit of love, with help from his misfit friends.
A contemporary vampire tale inspired by historical myth and the writings of Bram Stoker. A digital yarn shot on HDV combining non-linear editing techniques, stop-frame animation and print, creating a fragmented visual short story.
