I am doing something like this
Brutish Sailor — Sun, 2009-06-07 01:58Its funny I came across this, I love google.
I run a zombie radio station, its still in progress of storyline development, but it does exsist.
Im a Navy guy. Welder and plumber. Not very social, but it comes with the trade.
I got into internet radio through a game called dead awaken. I have had my MAJOR share of issues with it, but hell and high water I was going to make this thing work. I was board of regular radio, and had a serious interest in the zombie community. from the roots of that game (we used to all stream from our house) came an Idea that was pretty cool.
What I did was started developing a radio station that was different. Imagine the magazine (movie if you were never have heard of the magazine) heavy metal. Now imagine a station that is all mock broadcast. All mock live updates. A main storyline of survivors that decided to outpost in a radio station in a small city full of the undead, looting blood thirsty raiders, and ....
Dont want to give it all away.
All commercial free ( in-stream ads don't pay JACK after the licensing fees ) except the mock ones ( lol, zombie style)
Its been a nightmare. Its a hobby station, so don't expect perfection. I have been running this all with my own two mits, and a couple of contributes ( I really need to set up a thank you page)
I have the story line off, but I will sceduel it in. and NO, I am not a pirate station.
www.deadawakenradio.com
But considering 6 months ago I didn't know how to even screen shot, and now I have a server set up to stream (big money pit) a xoops template web page (not the greatest, but when your building things yourself, what do you expect, Im a PLUMBER / BOILER WELDER) and some licensing to keep me legal, its a start.
I usually play a wide mix of things, a lot of the young zombie community wanted NOTHING but death metal, but to rob the older community of a good story because they didnt like the music? I couldn't do that. So big variety.
I usually get hammered by a lot of my competition stations (mostly gamer based stations), but its the zombie communities flagpole in the sand of radio.
Check it out and tell me what you think. wastephill@37.com
