The Revenant is a story about an ancient pestilence recurring in modern society. Bart Gregory is killed in the Middle East, his body is returned to the US, where services are held. But before the lid is put on his tomb Bart awakens, confused, shocked-- a moldy, putrefying living corpse. He goes to the house of his best friend, JOEY, who is also shocked and disgusted by his return, and they take him to the emergency ward, to find out what is happening, and why Bart is in such nausea and pain. The nurses at the ER are so repulsed by his appearance that they panic and call the police. Bart and Joey flee.They soon learn that he must consume human blood to keep from decomposing. The search for this life-giving substance drives them to commit acts neither thought was possible and eventually consumes their lives, all while cruising in a 1979 Camaro with a surfboard on the roof. As their delicate world collapses upon them, they must confront issues of morality, immortality, the bounds of friendship, and the nature of evil, while living in the margins of darkness, at the edge of the earth.
